The Bohemian composer Vanhal is generally regarded as the first freelance musician to make a sufficient living exclusively from the sale of his works and fromteaching. He wrote numerous piano and chamber music pieces as well as more than 100 symphonies. These '24 Duettini', published in 1809 and dedicated to Princess Charlotte of Wales, are quite intriguing both musically and technically.
