This 15-minute work, composed in 1989, was commissioned and premiered by the Aeolian Chamber Players. The quartet is a set of variations based on two melodies: Les Niais de Sologne by Rameau, and a fragment from Rodriguez’s first opera, Le Diable Amoureux, hence the composite title Les Niais Amoureux.
